DOON IS  A  MODERN  RETELLING OF THE PLAY BRIGADOON. THE STORY FOLLOWS TWO BEST FRIENDS , VERONICA AND MACKENNA, WHO ARE SPENDING THEIR SUMMER HOLIDAY’S IN SCOTLAND, IN MACKENNA’S LATE AUNT’S COTTAGE. WHILE VEROCINA SEEMS TO BE HAVING HALLUCINATIONS OF A HANDSOME BLOND IN A KILT, CALLING TO HER, SHE AND MACKENNA FIND TWO RINGS AND A BIG SECRET, WHICH LEADS THEM TO THE BRIG O’ DOON. ON CROSSING THE BRIDGE, THE GIRLS FIND THEMSELVES IN THE WORLD OF DOON WITH MAGIC, CASTLES, SWOON WORTHY PRINCES AND THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THE GATES TO DOON ONLY OPEN ONCE EVERY HUNDRED YEARS.

THE SETTING OF THE BOOK, IS THE FIRST THING THAT DREW ME TO THIS BOOK. READING THROUGH THE PAGES, I COULD TOTALLY PICTURE  MYSELF LIVING IN THE KINGDOM , I COULD IMAGINE AND FEEL EVERYTHING THEY WENT THROUGH. TALKING ABOUT THE TWO  SCOTTISH PRINCES, DUNCAN AND JAMIE, SWOON.  I THINK I MIGHT HAVE ADDED TWO MORE BOYS TO MY BOOK BOYFRIEND CATEGORY.  I LIKED HOW THEY ROMANTIC ASPECT HAS BEEN SHOWN GROWING GRADUALLY WHICH GIVES IT A MORE REALISTIC EFFECT.

I LOVED THE WRITING. MANY AUTHORS WRITING TEENAGE POINT OF VIEWS, TEND TO MAKE SOME ASPECTS A WEE BIT CHEEZY AND UNREALISTIC BUT LORIE AND CAREY DID AN AMAZING JOB OF GIVING THE PERFECT APPROACH FOR EACH OF THE GIRLS, MAKING ME FEEL LIKE IT WAS AN ACTUALLY TEENAGER, NO LESS, NO MORE. THEY WERE BOTH BALANCED OUT AND ALTHOUGH THEY ARE OF OPPOSITE NATURE’S, I FELT LIKE I COULD CONNECT WITH THEM ALMOST EQUALLY.

THE WRITING IN DONE IN BOTH MACKENNA AND VERONICA’S POV’S. ALTHOUGH I LIKED THOSE BECAUSE THEY GAVE US AN INTEL ON BOTH THEIR FEELINGS , IT FELT LIKE VERONICA WAS ALMOST THE MAIN CHARACTER. MACKENNA’S POV IS WRITTEN AFTER A COUPLE OF VERONICA’S , SO PERSONALLY I FOUND A LITTLE FRUSTRATING TO CHANGE THE VIEWS. BUT DON’T LET THAT BRING YOU DOWN BECAUSE IT DEFINITELY GAVE THE STORY A NEW LIGHT. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND PICKING THIS BOOK UP.

AND LASTLY, SOMEONE TAKE ME TO SCOTLAND!
